>Dictaphone

~What Is a Dictaphone?

A dictaphone is a device that stores audio, simply put. You turn on the dictaphone's mic, it listens and stores the audio in it's proximity and it can be replayed over and over. It is a very cool device with a very simple use.

~Uses

Let's say a dictaphone fell out of the sky and hit you on the head (falling down at the speed of 1 inch per second, because if I let a dictaphone that obides by nature's laws of physics hit you on your head at a furious speed you would be dead so your welcome for saving your life). What would you use it for? Here are some examples:

  1. Speaking about things you learned to solidify their concepts in your head
  2. Capturing lecture audios to go back and dissect the material over and over again
  3. Record a highly confidential conversation
  4. Treat it as a verbal notebook

~Why I Use It

I use it as a combination as a verbal notebook and a way to help improve my speech. My speech is very flawed in the sense that I sometimes use filler words, not as much as before but I still use them, I don't know what words to use to decribe what I am talking about, I sometimes make simple things overcomplicated by the way I describe them and I lack a sense of confidence when speaking.

What a dictaphone can do for me is help me develop a habit of constantly trying to improve my speech, allowing me to speak to it whenever. Another thing is that it allows me to get my reps in, helping me get better through consistency.

~The Struggle

The issue is sticking with it. There are some days I have a lot to talk about and then there are days where I don't have anything to talk about. Actually it's more like I just don't want to talk. If you ever had to record a video for school, its like the same type of feeling. Speaking into an inanimate object and acting like you are speaking to a person. My confidence and comfort levels are not really there. One thing that has been helping me with that is by shifting my mindset into thinking that I am talking to future me. It feels a lot like speaking to someone directly, someone with an actual soul.

As for the consistency part, I need to find my incentive to speak to it. The days where I learned more are the days where I tend to speak more. There is still material to talk about when I haven't learned as much though. Like what I would want to do, what I have planned for the next coming days, just what I am feeling and thinking in general.

~The Point

A dictaphone is an amazing device if the effort of the owner is put in. That is actually true with any device that has ever existed in humanity. So I guess my point is to just move with intention with any device you use.

For what I will be doing is I will just turn on the dictaphone and see what I speak of that day. If I am talkative that day, good, if not there will be other days. I just want to put myself in a position where I will be more susceptible to learn.

That's it, just a quick ramble session about some random device.

Also I hit 255lb yesterday on bench, I will definitely not be hitting 315lb by this year but for sure next year.

Have a good day (9:32AM).
