~Could This Possibly Be GGs For Humanity
AI. These two simple letters will change humanity for good. I want to preface this blog like I do many others that this is not a cohesive blog/essay. It is more just a collection of words about a topic I find interesting.
Could this be it for humanity? We are moving into a time where attention spans are being significantly reduced, people are delegating very basic operations and thoughts to AI for an answer, and hard work is something that can be replaced with a few clicks on a keyboard. This is a very strange time.
~Only Two Routes
There are two possible outcomes that this major change in humanity can leave us in.
~The Good
AI takes away our need to do tidious things to focus and accelerate our work on "big potato" stuff like space exploration, research health and medicine, develop solutions for pollution and global warming, find ways to teleport, create a better educational system, get food, shelter and water to societies that need help, and so much more. I am just brainstorming here, obviously. But the possibilities are endless, the benefits of AI can potentially trickle down to everybody's everyday life making them healthier, smarter, and just an overall better person than who they were before.
In my completely honest opinion, this is possible but it is very very unlikely humanity will retain its intelligence and ability to work hard. Like the urge to work hard in whatever field, or be able to read a book. The list goes on. But then again when the internet came around it just accelerated the access of information and people continued to work hard. Maybe people will allocate their attention and effort into a field that we can't even comprehend yet. I mean the step up from the boom of information via the internet to AI is a huge gap. So I can't even begin to imagine the things we will start to focus on. So I slightly take back my last point that our intelligence will rot. There will be a new kind of broad area of expertise regarding a focus on a completely different field we know nothing about at this point in time.
Hopefully society somehow finds stabilization with an ever growing, spontaneous field smack dab in the middle of our world and we can harness it's power to the benefit of mankind and we live happily ever after blah blah blah. So thats the best case scenario I was trying to explain. Sorry if its hard to keep up with me on this topic because there are so many possibilities AI can take us to and I am trying to focus on a general area of possibilities but then I think of something that completely debunks that thought and another thought that debunks that previous thought and so on. Just bear with me. Or beer with me, break open a cold one and read what some random dude has to say about the future of humanity. Sorry, let us continue.
My stance on AI has shifted about 4,000 times since beginning to write.
Part of me is optimistic for the potential coming solutions to major issues and the people that can be helped, and part of me is scared for the toll it will take on society and our minds.
I think we generally covered the good. Let me summarize it. AI will take care of the not so important and important stuff while humans can chill and potentially help work on the important stuff with AI. It's kind of like AI is the manager who runs the store (pushing the world forward) while humans are that optional, seasonal employee who shows up whenever they want just to give a helping hand and some advice but that same seasonal employee somehow has a more important say on the direction of the company than the manager (AI).
Now if that AI manager fired that seasonal, sometimes no-call no-show, tardy employee then things will get interesting (if you can't comprehend that last part of the analogy that means AI has taken over, killed all of humanity and decided to do its own thing). I guess thats a good way to transition to the bad side of AI.
~The Bad
We all die. I'll keep it simple and straight to the point. That's honestly the worst case scenario for any possible situation but it seems more feasible in this case with AI. Now for the less extreme cases, I think humans will become unhealthy, stupid and lazy through abundance of resources. Food will be way to easily accessible, stimulating videos and information will keep humans with their minds on auto pilot mode every second they are awake, causing them to over eat and stay indoors, avoiding exercise.
Now it maybe be possible that we have nothing to do because AI has been taking care of everything for us that we shift our focus to exercising and socializing (that socializing part came from the assumption that transportation to anywhere becomes extremely fast so we can just talk to anybody whenever we get the chance in person, or online calls seem extremely real so we don't even have to be there with eachother in person).
You also have to take into account that everyone is different. AI might be one of those things that help strength people or weaken people but with the way we are already I feel like there will be great harm done to us, especially our youth.
Our younger generation is too attached to devices where it seems like its essential to their lives. Dopamine hit after dopamine hit after dopamine hit. Getting information at the speed of light. An overstimulated youth whos attention spans are so short that they can't sit still. Obviously not all but most. I've seen it first hand at my second job teaching kids how to code.
The thing that bothers me the most is that I feel like the need to do stuff will seem too easy and not worth it. Its like Minecraft or GTA. Once you go into creative mode or your account gets hacked and you have infinite money there is not much to do. I was going to go on a huge rant about this. This point was actually the whole reason I wanted to write this blog but I still need to think about it more.
~Personal Things I Look For
Advanced gaming. Better definition gaming with better NPC dialogs. That would be an excellent use of AI, improving NPC dialogs and reacting properly to what you do. Also I see that Nvidia DLSS 5 stuff on Youtube. Wow thats horrible. At least right now it is. Just looks like a depressing AI filter. But yea, hopefully gaming gets better. I know big companies have been failing as of late because of their greedy tendencies and indie games have been eating good, but all gamers want is a good game.
Thats honestly about it. I dont plan to revise this writing right now, probably later. Just wanted to put out a thought that was bouncing around the old noggin. Thanks, peace.
